Forensic Document and Handwriting Examiner

In January 1997, Mr. Lacroix commenced a comprehensive five year training program in the field of Forensic Document Examination in Hobart, Tasmania. He trained under the former Head of the Forensic Document Examination Section of Tasmania Police and received training in the examination of handwritten images, machine generated images and other facets of documentary evidence. He studied the required text-books in relation to this field of work, participated in various proficiency tests and successfully completed his training program in January 2002.

Mr. Lacroix was employed as a Forensic Document and Handwriting Examiner with Australasia Document Examination in Perth, Western Australia, between December 2002 and January 2006. His duties included: management of the laboratory and its resources; the examination of questioned handwriting, signatures and documents; management of quality systems; the preparation of expert reports; and the presentation of evidence to the courts. He commenced with Forensic Document Examiners Pty. Ltd. in February 2006 and is currently responsible for all aspects of documents examination case-work received for examination, comparison and report.

Adrian has completed specialist units in Chemistry and Physics as part of an Associate Degree in Science from the University of Tasmania. In addition, he has received the degrees of Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction and Bachelor of Commerce with First Class Honours from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia.

Mr. Lacroix is the Secretary of the Australian Society of Forensic Document Examiners (ASFDE) and a Member of that Society. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and is a Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the Australian & New Zealand Forensic Science Society (ANZFSS), and the Forensic Science Society (FSS).

Adrian regularly attends national and international conferences, seminars and workshops in the field, where current research papers on Forensic Document and Handwriting Examination are presented. Speakers at such events include experts from their particular areas of expertise. He present courses on relevant areas of Forensic Document Examination to Barristers & Solicitors, Investigators, Bank and Financial Institution Personnel, Insurance Officers, and Corporate Security Officers.

Mr. Lacroix has been accepted as an expert in the field of Forensic Document and Handwriting Examination by various courts and tribunals in Australia and overseas. He has been engaged to examine documents for civil parties, legal representatives and financial institutions across Australia, Czech Republic, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Switzerland and Taiwan.
